Stephanie Widaman, managing partner of Black Twig Communications, brings over 20 years of experience in marketing, communications and public relations.
As she leads the agency’s account staff, Stephanie’s key responsibilities within the operations of the company include setting agency policy and business strategy.
Stephanie specializes in media relations, community relations, social media consulting and strategic communication planning.
Industries she has worked with include telecommunications, banking, manufacturing, economic development, architecture, parks and recreation, education, nonprofit, hospitality, food and beverage, real estate and construction.
With experience in both business-to-consumer and business-to-business communications, along with past involvement in broadcast news production, she has led successful strategic communications programs for local and national clients.
Some of those clients include Cutex, MERS Goodwill, Remiger Design, Metro Lighting, TRUE Fitness, Easterseals Midwest, 9 Mile Garden and Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network.
During the course of her career, she has consistently placed stories in local and regional broadcast and print news, vertical trade magazines and national outlets, including Huffington Post, IndustryWeek, Wall Street Journal and New York Times.
Before joining Black Twig Communications in 2010, Stephanie was a director at Chicago-based Cushman/Amberg Communications’ St. Louis office. She was responsible for account and project management, developing strategic public relations plans, conducting media training, coordinating press events, handling media outreach and reporting media results for a number of accounts.
Prior to, she worked with public relations boutique agency Beyond Concepts generating content for client websites and news releases, building media relationships, pitching media stories and assisting on advertising campaigns.
Preceding her agency life, Stephanie got her start in the communications business at KSDK-TV, the NBC affiliate in St. Louis where she worked with in all facets of the newsroom.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a minor in Studio Art from Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
A St. Louis native, Stephanie and her husband David live in Webster Groves with their daughter, Josephine.
Stephanie is a member of PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) and served as the 2013 St. Louis Board President. Stephanie has also served as a Director at Large, Ethics Chair, Young Professionals Chair and Programming Co-Chair. Other community involvement includes: former Board Member with Catch a Falling Star and the National Conference for Community and Justice in St. Louis (NCCJSTL); She has worked with the development committee of Food Outreach; and has volunteered with United Way’s GenNext organization and KidSmart. Currently, Stephanie is an executive member of the Board of Directors at KidSmart.
